Internal Medicine
An Internal Medicine Specialist is a medical doctor who provides broad spectrum comprehensive long-term care in all settings including the outpatient clinic, long-term care facilities, and the hospital, managing both common and complex illnesses of older adolescents and adults. Internists are broadly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors, infections, and diseases affecting all organ systems. They are also trained in the essentials of primary care, providing preventive care, including routine evaluation, vaccinations, risk assessments and screening laboratory and imaging tests, and in-depth counseling on overall mental and physical health, substance abuse, and cultivating a healthy lifestyle.
